SCENE-ON-SCENE

Exercise Advanced 30 min 4–8

Description

SCENE-ON-SCENE is an advanced improv exercise for teams of four or more students. In this activity, teams divide into two sub-teams. Sub-team A sets up a present-day scene, while Sub-team B interrupts with a flashback or suggestion of another scene.
As they interject, Sub-team B must act out the suggested scene, and when complete, they return to the present scene established by Sub-team A.

Setup Requirements

Space for multiple scenes; chairs or props for the scenes.

Points of Observation

  • Watch for how well the teams maintain the flow between different scenes.
  • Note the use of props and sound effects to enhance storytelling.
  • Observe the students' attentiveness to each other's performances.
