TELEVISION SCREEN

Game Intermediate 30 min 4–10

Description

In this game, players form teams of actors and a family. The actors perform behind a large screen, while the family sits in a 'living room' setting, facing the screen for an evening of TV viewing.
Each family member calls out their favorite TV show, turning on the set to prompt the actors. The lighting dims in the living room, while the spotlight on the actors brightens. The actors must improvise the show called for. The family can change channels or request new shows at any time, keeping the actors on their toes.

Setup Requirements

A large shadow screen (6' x 4'), two spotlights, a costume rack, and a prop table.

Point of Concentration

Agility in changing character, costumes, and content.

Side Coaching

  • Encourage quick costume changes and character shifts.
  • Remind actors to stay in character while responding to the family.
  • Ensure smooth transitions when changing shows.

Points of Observation

  • Watch for the actors' ability to adapt quickly to new scenarios.
  • Check for effective use of space and props.
  • Observe the interaction between the family and actors.

Evaluation

  • What were the best moments of improvisation?
  • How did actors handle unexpected changes?
  • What could be improved in terms of collaboration?

  • Family member: "Change the channel to a sci-fi adventure!"
