Description

In this exercise, participants explore how to physically embody their professions. Each participant will show through action what they do for a living without verbal explanations. The focus is on movement, posture, and subtle gestures that convey their character's work.

Setup Requirements

An open performance space for participants to act out scenarios.

Point of Concentration

On showing what they do for a living.

Side Coaching

  • Encourage natural movement related to the profession.
  • Remind participants to avoid humor or clowning; focus on authenticity.
  • Promote concentration on the chosen profession without distractions.

Points of Observation

  • Watch for the physical transformation based on the profession.
  • Observe the energy and body language differences between various jobs.
  • Take note of how participants express their roles individually and without interaction.

Evaluation

  • Can activity alone show what we do for a living?
  • Does physicality change with different professions?
  • How does experience in a job influence body language and attitude?

Examples

  • A teacher might stand with open posture and gesturing as if addressing a class.
  • A salesman could exhibit a confident stride and persuasive hand movements.
  • A laborer might show a hunched back and heavy movements working with tools.
