Description

Contrapuntal Argument C is an improvisational exercise for two players, focusing on the transformation of viewpoints. Players maintain their own perspectives while simultaneously engaging with their partner's ideas. The goal is to explore and deepen what they hear from each other, talking at the same time without a set time limit.

Setup Requirements

A quiet space for conversation without distractions.

Point of Concentration

Explore and heighten perspectives.

Side Coaching

  • Talk to each other! Maintain your own point of view!
  • Work together to expand each other's perspectives.
  • Avoid individual isolation; be interactive.
  • Dig into each other’s viewpoints.

Points of Observation

  • Look for seamless communication without conflict.
  • Ensure players are talking with each other, not at each other.
  • Avoid limiting dialogue that leads to mere back-and-forth.
  • Watch for signs of physicalization as players deepen their engagement.

Evaluation

  • Did the players effectively share and build upon each other's ideas?
  • How did each player embody their perspective?
  • What moments showcased true collaboration?

  • Player 2: "That makes sense, but what if the sky is blue to contrast with the land beneath it?"
