Deaf Audience

Description

In this exercise, two or more players perform a scene while the audience plugs their ears. The players must use both dialogue and actions to convey the scene without sound.

Setup Requirements

A space for performance and audience seating.

  • Encourage players to explore creative ways to show emotions.

  • Look for clarity in physical storytelling.

  • Notice changes in scene dynamics when relying on actions.

Evaluation

  • Did the scene maintain animation and clarity?
  • Could the audience understand the story without hearing?
  • Where could players improve physicalization?

  • A cooking show in progress.
