Excursions into the Intuitive

Exercise Intermediate 20 min 4–12

Description

This exercise focuses on tension release and awareness. Participants sit calmly on chairs, adjusting their posture to create a straight line from their spine. They concentrate on a gentle hissing sound while avoiding thoughts or external distractions.
When a participant feels the urge, they can rise and engage in a spontaneous scene based on the collective energy in the room.

Setup Requirements

Chairs for each participant, open stage area.

Point of Concentration

on hissing from the back of the throat.

Side Coaching

  • Concentrate on exhalation!
  • Look at the stage!
  • Trust yourself!
  • Stop thinking about what to do!

Points of Observation

  • Watch for expressive body language without dialogue.
  • Ensure participants are not forced to act just for the sake of doing.
  • Consider the dynamics after a scene for deeper meaning.
  • Ideal for groups already comfortable with each other.

Evaluation

  • What emotions did you observe during the exercise?
  • How did the hissing affect your performance?
  • Can you identify any themes or stories that emerged?

Examples

Player A goes on stage, walks around, looks over the edge as if he is up high. He grabs a chair, climbs onto it. Player B walks up to him: “Here, buddy, have a cigarette.” Player A stops and looks at him: “Thanks.” Player B waves as he leaves; player C enters and walks slowly back and forth as if in great contemplation. Player A mirrors him.
