Feeling Self with Self

Exercise Beginner 20 min 5–20

Description

In this exercise, participants focus on the sensations they experience from their bodies. Starting from the feet, they explore tactile feelings against their skin and clothing.
After this initial grounding, participants will stand up and navigate through the room while maintaining their awareness of bodily sensations and the atmosphere.

Setup Requirements

Space for participants to sit and move around without obstacles.

Point of Concentration

on feeling self with self.

Side Coaching

  • Feel self with self! Feel your feet in your shoes, your legs in your slacks!
  • Feel the atmosphere around you! Reach out into the space!
  • Penetrate the atmosphere! Make the air heavy!
  • Experience the air getting lighter!

Points of Observation

  • Ensure students do not touch the body parts with their hands, but instead, feel with their bodies.
  • Provide continuous coaching throughout the exercise.
  • Encourage students to incorporate 'feeling' homework into their daily routine.

Evaluation

  • How did the sensations from different body parts affect your awareness?
  • What changes did you feel while moving through the space?
  • How did the atmosphere feel as you pushed through it?
