Description

This exercise involves multiple players on stage while others provide sound and lighting effects from backstage. On-stage performers create scenes that cue backstage players for effects like sound, lighting, or physical actions.
The aim is to enhance the scene with appropriate technical cues.

Space for a stage and a backstage area.

Integrate on-stage action with technical effects.

  • Encourage on-stage players to suggest effects verbally.
  • Use simple sound effects that can be easily executed.
  • Focus on clarity so cues are clear and timely.

Points of Observation

  • Watch how well on-stage players integrate cues into their performance.
  • Note the responsiveness of backstage players to on-stage suggestions.
  • Observe the interaction between on-stage and backstage players.

Evaluation

  • What worked well in integrating effects with the scene?
  • Were the cues clear and timely?
  • How did the backstage players enhance the performance?
