Identifying Objects Game

Exercise Beginner 30 min 4–20

Description

In this exercise, players form a circle while one player stands in the center with their hands behind their back. A teacher or director places an object in their hands, and they must guess what it is using only their sense of touch.
Players will answer guided questions about the object's attributes, fostering sensory awareness and connection.

Setup Requirements

A selection of recognizable objects (e.g., poker chip, pencil sharpener).

Point of Concentration

On feeling the object.

Side Coaching

  • Let your hand remember!
  • Focus on the texture and shape!

Points of Observation

  • Are players accurately identifying objects?
  • How well do they articulate their sensory experience?

Evaluation

  • Was concentration complete or incomplete?
  • What strategies helped in identifying the object?
  • Did they effectively convey their experience to the audience?

Examples

  • A player feels a poker chip and describes it as round and made of plastic.
  • A player touches a rubber stamp and guesses based on its texture and size.
