Three-Line Scenes

Description

Two players create a complete scene with only three lines of dialogue each. Every word must count, forcing clarity and strong choices.

Setup Requirements

Performance area with audience seating

Point of Concentration

Economy of language and maximizing each line

Side Coaching

Make every line matter! Establish relationship quickly. Land the ending with your third line.

Points of Observation

Did the scene feel complete? Were all six lines necessary? Did players use physicality to fill gaps?

Evaluation

What made successful scenes work? What did you accomplish in three lines? What would you change?

Examples

'I can't believe you did this.' / 'I did it for us.' / 'There is no us anymore.' / 'Then I've lost everything.' / 'You lost it the moment you lied.' / 'Then I guess this is goodbye.'
