Orientation Game

Game Beginner 15 min 4–10

Description

In this game, one player starts an activity on stage. Other players join in one by one, each taking on a distinct character relevant to the initial activity. The goal is to enhance group interaction and focus as players embody their roles.
Example: If the first player is a surgeon, others could be a nurse, scrub nurse, anesthetist, or intern.

Setup Requirements

A performance space to move freely.

Point of Concentration

Encouraging group participation and character dynamics.

Side Coaching

  • Encourage players to stay in character.
  • Focus on group dynamics rather than individual actions.
  • If the scene becomes too chaotic, maintain focus by having them engage in a shared game.

Points of Observation

  • Ensure players are unaware of the initial activity until they join.
  • Watch for excitement and engagement among students.
  • Monitor for aimless movement or excessive verbalization without action.

Evaluation

  • How effectively did the players integrate their characters?
  • Did the group maintain focus on the initial activity?
  • What moments created excitement and interaction?

Examples

2. Another player can join as the food critic, while others take roles as sous-chefs, waitstaff, or patrons.
