In this exercise, players perform a scene based on an agreed-upon location, characters, and situation. During the scene, the teacher-director intermittently calls out to ‘frame’ specific actors. When framed, all other actors become 'cameras' and focus their attention on the framed actor, who continues to play the scene.
This technique heightens the scene by encouraging intense energy directed at the framed actor while all participants maintain their respective character roles.
Setup Requirements
Open space for performance, no special materials needed.
Point of Concentration
Intense body energy focused on the actor being framed.
Side Coaching
Encourage players to project their energy towards the framed actor.
Remind 'cameras' to remain engaged while observing the framed actor.
Adjust intensity and focus as needed based on the framing.
Points of Observation
Observe full body energy directed toward the framed actor.
Check if actors effectively portray their characters and environment.
Note the clarity of the scene’s context and details (e.g., age of characters).
Evaluation
Did players use full body energy to focus on the framed actor?
Was the scene's context clear, and did it enhance character portrayal?
