In this exercise, participants work in groups of three or more to collaboratively interact with an agreed-upon object. The goal is for everyone to participate in a joint action that involves moving the object together.
Examples of objects include: pulling a fishnet, tugging a boat, portaging a canoe, pushing a stalled car, or taffy pulling.
Setup Requirements
Open space for movement and interaction.
Point of Concentration
To make the object real.
Side Coaching
Encourage all members to engage with the object.
Remind participants to focus on teamwork and coordination.
Challenge them to find a way to move the object that requires everyone's involvement.
Points of Observation
Watch for group dynamics; ensure all players are involved.
Look for signs of coordination versus individual effort.
Note if players rely on one another to address challenges with the object.
Evaluation
Did the group work together effectively?
Could one person have managed the task alone?
Were participants working on the problem jointly or separately?
